The Sun!! It Burns Us!

Long post ahead to include:
Pregnancy stories
Belly shots
Two, count 'em, TWO projects
All kinds of sarcastic wit from yours truly *wink*

Hiss!
This is the sound of the light of day touching my skin as I finally emerge from the cave of the first half of my pregnancy.
Me eyes!!

(picture I took after running into the Misters coworkers...because without fail I always look like a scrub when I see people like that.  I only have make-up on one eye...A mess I am!

Yeah, remember this?

Baby #3 is currently cooking in my oven (25weeks5days) and I am loving it.
Well, loving that I have finally started feeling better the past couple weeks.

Side note: Wanna hear a funny story?
How I knew I was pregnant...Ahem!

Back in February, the Mister had two months of training to complete up in Montana. The kids and I drove him up there and dropped him off at the smallest tiny-teenie base I ever saw. I was sad to leave him but that's the life of this military wife, my friends. Anyhoo, on the way home the kids and I blasted the "Frozen" soundtrack for the majority of the hours home, singing our hearts out.  Whenever this song came on.....

...I was a sobbing mess, like tears dripping off my chin. I have lots of sisters and the sister love in this movie just gets to me every.single.time..
So I was sitting there, crying, and I thought to myself, okay these songs are good... but they aren't this good.
I was due to start my cycle that day but after a year of disappointing pregnancy tests I had told myself to just wait a week to test.
But when we got home I gave in and boom.
Positive.
Saweet!
Then I had to be the "married-single-mom-military-wife" for the next two months.
We watched a lot of Netflix and ate a lot of crap food. And I don't even care if you judge.

This pregnancy has been my hardest.  Super odd how that happens. With Sunshine and Birdie I felt better around 12 or 13 weeks.  This baby took me all the way to 20weeks of feeling consistently terrible and then slowly got better up until now.

So without further ado.... please bask in the vast glory that is my baby belly.
Pictures taken at 25weeks3days

But first...
Please witness what I wear on a daily basis...
Leggings and over sized t-shirts
And yes that is a mix of Doctor Who and Peter Pan, two fandoms of which I support an addiction.
Tink is the light on the Tardis...
"So that's how it flies!"

It was sunny. My faces are ridiculous...

Okay, up first, the more flattering quarter-turn angle...

Birdie was all...Wha???

All right, here comes the big one

You know those little pregnant mamas who just stay so cute and tiny and adorably cute?
I am not one of them

In other big news (get the pun?) nesting is in full swing at my house. Been working on some fun things.
Take a look!

Before...

During...

Sand that baby down!

Slap on the paint...

After...

Oh yummy! I just love this little dresser so stinking much! I got it for free from a friend and I'm letting my kiddos share it...even thought I love it so much I considered just keeping it in my kitchen so I could look at it all the time.
Hah!

And look!
I finally finished our little birdie-girl's quilt.
Thanks to my tall neighbor for holding this up for me!
Quilt stats-
13 fat quarters making...
20-8.5x8.5 squares
12-8.5x16.5 rectangles
1-16.5x16.5 square
Riley Blake fabrics (love that stuff!)

Front...

Back...

My new favorite thing to do is have a little peek-a-boo on the back of all the fabrics used for the front.
And that purple binding is just heaven to me.

This quilt also ended up with some awesome stippling.
Loving it...

Yummy stippling texture...

The angle of the sun really makes the texture stick out.
I kept rubbing my hands on it, I couldn't help it!

More stippling texture...

That's all for now my friends!
I have lots of projects in the works and am excited to share them with you!

Thanks for reading

TMI Tuesday #34-"Whaaaa???"

TMI Tuesday:

"What does that say???"-edition

Some months ago I was driving when I saw a car with a sticker that made no sense to me at first...
The reference was pretty obscure,
I think,
and did not merit an entire back window car sticker of its own.

I'd be interested in what you think:

"I drive like a Cullen"
(Sorry, poor quality)

"Whaaaaa???"-Me

It took me a looooong time to process what it meant
I was hardly able to capture this picture.

I've read Twilight.
Tried to like it.
Pretending to love it
(so I could participate when women at church and my sisters gushed about it)

But I have come to terms with it and am totally okay with saying the following:

"Twilight is laaaaaaaaaame"
(I won't even get into how terrible I think it is for young impressionable girls to read because I think the message it teaches is damaging)

And I am all about being a fanatic...

Have you seen my phone case?

Or my Pinterest board?
http://www.pinterest.com/starrsm/i-m-a-nerd-deal/

Fandoms I nurture:
Doctor Who
Harry Potter
Sherlock
LOTR
Disneyland
Phineas and Ferb (I know, it is Disney but deserves its own line)
Princesses
Anything Disney really
Psych
The IT Crowd (that is a new one!!)
HIMYM
Mad Men
Downton
Etc. Etc. Etc.

I am a book worm and a Netflix-Nerd and a DisneyDork

and a proud Twilight-despiser

Um...TMI???

TMI Tuesday #25- "...and I cannot lie!"

Recent Conversation with an Unnamed Friend:

Friend: I don’t like standing up for songs at church.

Me: Uh, why not?

Friend: Because all I see are butts. I can’t stop looking at all the butts. And checking them out. I always check out butts. “Big butt. Small butt. Bouncing butt. Firm butt. Butt, butt, butt” I’m just a total perv.

Me: Nah girl, I do it too.

Um... TMI!!!

TMI Tuesday #21-"Open Wide!"

Since when did a 3.5hr dentist appointment feel like a
relaxing, restful break
from mommy-duties?

I'm getting veneers (finally) because this happened when I was a kid...

After spending 3+ hrs with my upper lip resting on my forehead...

I am now sporting some nice temps-for-teeth.

Veneers in a couple weeks.
The lady who was there to help me pick out a shade for my new teeth
(how awesome is that?!?)
She kept calling them my

"stumps"

Is that a medical term?
I can think of about
147 different terms
that should be switched in.

 BTW, I love my dentsit.

Um... TMI!!!

Quarter-Century-Celebration WEEKEND!!

I have the greatest family and friends ever.
I mean it!!!

My birthday was such a wonderful day!
It was just how I wanted it to be.

Sort of busy and full of
food, laughter, hugs, kisses, giggles, pampering, family time, girl time
and of course,
HATS!

The Mister, Sunshine, the Bird and I had lunch together and went out for icecream.

Are you noticing my (unintentional) ombre hair?
I'm just so trendy I can hardly handle it...
(sarcasm)

It was time (waaay past time) to get my hair done.
So I was pampered in the afternoon

I'm back to brunette
And it sort of feels like coming home.
Blond was fun... but I'm sooo done.

Then, on Saturday night, the girls met up at Applebees
Only rule?
Wear a hat!

I decided to sport a fascinator
Inspired by
Royal Wedding, Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton Style...) and the Hunger Games

And now.. for the Parade of Hats!!!

Are you dying?
I was giggling all night.

The Mister and I were so full from lunch that we decided to extend my birthday an EXTRA day
Sunday night he pulled out the candles!
We had ice cream cake...
And the Mister got me trick candles....
My face and repeated attempts crack me up!

What a wonderful way to celebrate a Quarter-Century of living!!

Thank you so much to my family and friends,
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

#19 Host a dinner party:

#19

We decided to have a
Murder Mystery Dinner Party!!

Basically the greatest thing, ever.

And it was the Mister's birthday gift to me.
I got to have a party,
dress up,
dress the Mister up,
fake an accent
and act completely ridiculous in all ways possible!

Best night everrrrrrr.................

Our guests....

Sunshine couldn't resist visiting us....

Had a blast making my dress
(bought the fascinator at Zurchers)
And I got my hair and makeup done at The Hair Academy for super cheap
My character was a
tacky-trashy-Las Vegas-waitress
turned
New-gold digger-wife of 80 year old Richie Rich!
(he was the murdered one)

Isn't the Mister just the greatest???

This fulfilled a life-long dream
:)

Will I ever host one again? I would do this once a month if I had the money.time.willing husband.

What would you do differently? Taken more pictures!

Hardest part? Only picking 3 other couples... I wanted to invite everyone... But it doesn't work that way

Easiest part? Loading up on Dollar Store decorations

Yummiest part? For me it was tied between the Virgin Hurricane and the Gumbo

Yuckiest part? I hated the crab cakes I made... barfffff
